OEM vs ODM Gemstone Dice: Choosing the Right Custom Path

Bringing your own artwork and specification, or developing a product from a brief? Understanding OEM and ODM helps you scope a custom gemstone dice project correctly.

What OEM means for a gemstone dice program

In an OEM arrangement, the buyer supplies the product definition — format, dimensions, number style, logo faces, inlay color, finish, and packaging — and the factory manufactures to that specification. It is the natural fit when a brand already knows exactly what it wants to produce.

OEM keeps design ownership with the buyer and focuses the factory on precise, repeatable execution. A complete artwork and specification package shortens the path from sample approval to production.

What ODM adds when you start from a brief

In an ODM arrangement, development starts earlier. A product reference, mood board, logo file, sketch, or clear written brief is enough to begin a feasibility review — finished CAD artwork is not required. The factory helps shape material, format, engraving, and packaging into a producible product.

This path suits crowdfunding projects, retailers building a first collection, and gift programs that know the theme but not yet the exact construction. Custom requirements are normally reviewed within 72 hours as a brief-review window, separate from final sampling and production lead time.

Scoping cost and timeline for either path

Both routes converge on the same milestones: confirmed specification, approved sample, and production against a written standard. ODM typically involves more upfront development time, while OEM moves faster when the incoming package is complete.

Whichever path fits, share your target launch date in the first inquiry. The factory can then assess whether sampling, production, packaging, and delivery planning realistically fit the requested schedule.
